For much of the first half hour or so of this game Bargoed were in control but crucially failed to convert territory and possession into points. Frustratingly for the away supporters, the opportunities were created - a missed penalty attempt and another kicked to the corner, followed by three separate moves which on another day would have yielded at least a couple of tries: Alex Herbert held up short after a Duane Dyer burst, Lewis Weyman crashing through and offloading to Phil Price with the centre stopped by stiff defence on the line and then Bryce Morgan denied after a long discussion between referee Ben Breakspear and the touch judge. So, pointless after 27 minutes.
Cue, Llanelli’s purple patch with four tries in ten minutes. Steffan Hughes gets the first, converted by namesake Ioan. Wing Tom Rodgers gets another two minutes later, which went unconverted. That was followed by number eight Jack Condy with the third and full back Kallum Evans with the bonus point try after 36 minutes – 26-0 with Ioan Hughes’ conversions and it stayed that way until the break.
Condy got his second from a catch and drive shortly after the restart and right wing Ashley Evans went over from a cross-field kick to make it 40-0 with Hughes’ extras. Llanelli second row Chris Long had 10 minutes in the bin for taking out a lineout jumper in the air but the Bulls couldn’t take advantage.
Tries for flanker Lloyd Pike and a second for Tom Rodgers with Hughes adding another conversion taking his tally to six made it 52-0, before Bryce Morgan crossed for Bargoed four minutes from time with full back James Hallett converting to end the game 52-7.
