Warriors played Beddau last night in the final of the Ivor Williams Cup in Penygraig. The boys were looking to retain the trophy they won last year and keep up their good record of winining it over the last 5 years.

Beddau started off the better resulting in a Penalty by their very good kicker. 1st 5 mins Beddau 3- Bargoed 0

Bargoeds backs were looking to run it at every opportunity, good pressure resulting in Beddaus kick being charged down, Jake Thomas pounced on the loose ball for the 1st try of the game. Lawson Perry adding the extras.

Couple of harsh calls resulted in Bargoed giving a penalty away for offside near the 10 yard line. Beddaus kicking despatching the penalty for Bargoed 7 Beddau 6 after about 20 mins

Bargoed then scored two tries back to back great offloading from backs and forwards resulting in Chris Mapps 1st then Martyn Morgan both being on the end of great offloads. Lawson Perry again adding the extras with two great kicks. Bargoed 21 Beddau 6

Silly Penalty given away by Bargoed before half time  & another try for Beddau got the score back to Bargoed 21 Beddau 16. Half Time Score was 21-16.

Start of the 2nd half Beddau had a scrum on their 10 yard line. This was disrupted. A nice kick over the top resulted in pressure on the Beddau backs and another kick charged down was pounced upon by top poacher Jake Thomas for his 2nd. Solid Lawson Perry with the extras. Bargoed 28 Beddau 16.

Game now was going back and for with some great attacking rugby from both sides. The impressive Matthew Mcgovern getting a try in the corner score was now 33-16 with about 20 mins left.

Bargoed making some changes now to make sure all the boys had a run out. Last 20 Beddau came back into game with a pen, try and conversion resulting in score being 33-28 with about 5 mins left.

Beddau winger made a good great but a brilliant covering tackle my Chris Mapps saved a certain try.

Beddau putting the pressure on resulting in a yellow card for Bargoeds 8. Last attack by Beddau with seemed like it went on for about 5 mins. some heroic defence from Bargoed resulted in a knock on and the Warriors were champions

Skipper Luke Ellaway who played on one leg for most of the game lifted the cup to the delight of the travelling fans.

Great team effort from all the players & coaches on another Cup Win. Warriors unbeaten in all league and cup games this season so far
