Bargoed Briefs

The 1st XV were back in action on Saturday, and put in a much improved performance against a well organised Aberavon outfit. Indeed the Bulls were in front with a few minutes to go but their hopes were dashed when they conceded ten points with a late converted try, and a penalty as the Wizards pipped them 25-17 in an entertaining game.

The Youth team were also in action at home against Abercynon, and started well to take a ten point lead into half time. They played some good rugby up the slope on the Duff, but lost their way in the second half as they failed to capitalise on the wind and slope, through poor discipline and a high penalty count. However they did manage to squeeze out the win, and defended well throughout the second period to win the game 10-0.

This Saturday the Warriors face Penallta in the Ivor Williams Cup Semi Final, and the Youth are home to Croesyceiliog in a league game.

On Sunday the 1st XV travel to play their third Premiership Tier Two league game, and will be looking to secure their second win in this block, after a narrow defeat to the west walians earlier in the season. Come along and support the boys on a Saturday and Sunday with some high stakes to play for with the 1st XV and Youth chasing a strong top 3 finish in their respective leagues, and the Warriors chasing a place in another cup final, should be a cracking weekend!

Good luck as well to all our mini/ junior sides in tournaments over the next couple of weeks. The Under 7/8s had a cracking day down a tournament in the Arms Park before the Ospreys game  & the 9s did will over the Abercynon tournament. Plenty of rugby to finish the season
