Bargoed RFC Covid 19 Statement

Bargoed RFC fully support the Welsh Rugby Union stance in bringing the 2019-20 season to a premature end, due to the Coronavirus and risks of contracting Covid 19.

Although it’s a disappointing way to end the season, it really is important that action is taken and measures implemented to combat the risks.

It is people who are the most important part in bringing this to life, and saving the lives of others in our community.

We fully support those measures through social distancing and self isolation.

We also support the decision of the WRU, around the non promotion and relegation of clubs, with a significant number of games still to play and competitions still very much alive.

It’s at times like these that we need to look after those most vulnerable people in our communities, and the rugby community is no different.

It makes you think how important rugby and sport in general is to Wales, our communities, and also globally. We’re confident that rugby, and our communities will bounce back stronger when we beat this pandemic.

The values that we have in Welsh rugby of courage, humour, integrity, excellence, family and success, will be evident on a daily basis throughout our communities at this testing time, as they were recently through the period of the floods.

We saw great stories of people working together to overcome adversity and this will be no different, although we will be coming together remotely, so social media has never been more important.

Watch this space for updates, and a summary of a successful last season to follow.

Please be responsible so that we can defeat Covid 19. In doing so publicise any inspiring stories from our rugby community on social media to promote the positivity of our game!!
