Bargoed Briefs

Bargoed RFC had their first clean sweep of the season with the 1st XV, Warriors and the Youth team all chalking up wins on the weekend.

However the great performances on the field weren’t matched by the singing at the Players Karaoke Social Event, at the club later that evening. There were definitely some best endeavour awards but no budding Robbie Williams or Elton John’s.

On Friday evening the Supporters Club held their first event of the season, a Q and A session with players and coaching staff from the 1st XV, Warriors and Youth.

There was a great turnout and a superb comedy performance from MC Alan Lovell in managing proceedings. Good to see Club President Gary Williams present and on form along with the rest of the Bargoed Barmy Army.

The Warriors Coaching Team have had a useful addition with Lewis Wayman coming on board as Forwards Coach. Lewis has been a great servant to Bargoed RFC playing with distinction for the 1st XV over many years as a hard working back rower, and will be a great addition to the coaching team with his knowledge and experience.

Good to see current 1st XV Captain Kieron Brown making his coaching debut with the Mini and Junior Section and another player or ex player putting something back in to the club.

This week the 1st XV take on Pontypridd in a testimonial match for the great Ponty Centre and Captain Dafydd Lockyer on Saturday. 2.30 pm kick off at Sardis Road.

The Warriors are looking for a game in the pool, as there is no league game this week, and the Youth face Caerphilly at home in a Dragons League game.
