Bargoed Briefs

Bargoed Youth faced local rivals Penallta in a Dragons League fixture under the lights at Bargoed Park on Tuesday night. The Young Bulls put in an impressive performance, and came away with a 27-5 victory against a resilient and dogged Penallta outfit.

Bargoed led 12-5 after a tight first half, but an excellent second half performance saw them pull away. There were tries for Ieuan Morgan, Luke Cusack, Keaton Davies, Morgan Lloyd and Jake Rees, with Rhys Thomas kicking a conversion.

This was a workmanlike performance from the boys who have worked hard all season, and now look forward to the chance to win some silverware as the business end approaches.

The Youth now face Brynmawr away on Saturday.

The Warriors face Bridgend Athletic at home in the National Conference on Saturday with a 2.30 kick off.

There is no game for the 1st XV this week but they are back in action on Saturday 30th April at home against Neath in the Principality Premiership.

Bargoed play touring side Bassetts RFC from Holland this Sunday (24th) with a 2.30 kick off at Bargoed Park.

Bargoed have played against Bassetts RFC on a number of occasions having toured to Amsterdam and had an excellent welcome at their club.

The Bargoed side will include players from the Warriors, Youth and the Veterans to face the challenge of the Dutch side.

There is a function and band down the club after the game so come along and watch some entertaining rugby, and have a Sunday funday with some great entertainment on show off the field as well !!
