Bargoed Briefs

The 1st XV were the only side in action on Saturday and they entertained Brecon RFC at Bargoed Park.

Bargoed scored again a few minutes later with a cross field    kick from Joe Scrivens being fielded superbly by Dylan Williams and with Logan Yendle and Josh Prosser also involved, Will Keep bagged his second try as Bargoed took the lead 12-0.

Bargoed scored early in the second half to increase the lead to 27-0 with Adam Jones scoring in the corner which was greeted with the sheep chant by the Warriors who were watching the game.

Brecon opened their account with a converted try after 47 minutes to close the gap to 27-7.

Brecon looked like they would score again but great defensive work from Dylan Williams prevented them scoring.

The visitors were now having their best period in the game but Bargoed worked hard in defence to keep them out.

Bargoed scored again after another good build up in attack with replacement Will Ford scoring after some great footwork and vision. Joe Scrivens converted and Bargoed led 41-7.

The hosts scored again after good work by Will Gregory put Toby Thomas in for a try, which Joe Scrivens converted.

Bargoed’s final try after some direct carries before Jonny Wright crashed over with Scrivens again converting to make the final score Bargoed 55 Brecon 7.

The Coaching staff were pleased with the performance and particularly how clinical we were in attack, against a side who were tough to breakdown, even with 14 men.
