Bargoed Briefs

Bargoed entertained Narberth  on Saturday at the Caerphilly Centre of Excellence in a WRU Premiership encounter.

Narberth had beaten Bargoed in the opening game of the season at home, so the Bulls were keen to even things up.

However it was Narberth who were on top in the first half with two converted tries as the home side struggled with the conditions playing into a low sun.

Bargoed made a number of changes at the break and early pressure saw Daf Rees score from close range, with Will Ford converting.

Narberth had a period of pressure but Bargoed repelled their attack and defended well.

Bargoed looked much more composed than in the first half and another well constructed attack saw Rhys Stephens get the second try.

Bargoed increased the lead with further tries from Cody Purnell, Josh Prosser and Joe Scrivens. Will Ford who is a great prospect, and is looking really assured, added the extras with the boot.

Narberth battled until the end scoring a couple of tries but it was too little too late as Bargoed came out on top with a final score of 33-29.

The Coaching Staff will be pleased with the second half performance after struggling early on, but credit to the visitors who are a tough side to break down. There are no easy games in the WRU Premiership as we all know.

The victory sees the Bulls move into fifth place, and they will be pushing to get into the top four. However they know that there are more tough games to come against Llangennech (away) and Beddau (home) in the league over the next couple of weeks, so they will need to be at their best.

The Warriors will be hoping to play on the weekend after a frustrating couple of weeks with the weather and opposition unavailability resulting in games being called off pre Xmas.

The Warriors have a 1.00 pm kick off at home on Saturday (weather permitting).
