Bargoed Briefs 

Bargoed entertained our old friends Hawick Quins on Friday afternoon at Bargoed Park. This was the 58th year of a long standing and great relationship between the two sides. 

The Warriors were looking to retain the Butters Cup after Bargoed’s excellent victory in Hawick last season. 

Hawick started well and looked really dangerous with their young side playing an expansive game. 

However once Bargoed got into their stride they were dominant. The Scot’s battled hard but the visitors were struggling to match the physicality and tempo of the home side after a long trip south, and the after effects of a quiet social outing the previous night. 

The Warriors came away as 66-5 winners with tries scored from Lewys Lippiett (2), Dylan Rogers, Ian Jenkins, Joel Griffiths, Luke Ellaway, Gary Phillips,  Zak Marchetti-Rees, Jason James and Jake Thomas. 

Bargoed retained the Butters Cup but it was centre Liam Smith from the Quins that picked up the Player of the Match Award.
