Bargoed RFC - Thank You 

Bargoed RFC would like to thank departing coaches Mike Pugsley and Rhys Buckley for their hard work and commitment since joining the club. 

Both Mike and Rhys joined when Bargoed were in the WRU Premiership, Mike as an Assistant Coach in 2018 and Rhys as a player in 2016.

Mike later took over as Head Coach in season 21-22 and Rhys joined him on the coaching staff as an Assistant Coach.

They can look back proudly, having done a great job in a successful period for Bargoed in claiming a WRU Championship title, and a runners up spot in the WRU Championship Cup where we lost narrowly in the final at the Principality Stadium to Neath RFC  last season. 

Bargoed also lifted the Mid District Cup under their watch with a victory in the 21-22 final against Championship rivals, Ystrad Rhondda RFC. 

Mike has lead from the front, in his two seasons in charge, with his great work ethic and attention to detail. He has worked hard to refine Bargoed’s attack and the number of bonus point tries scored in the last two years are testament to the work he has done with the other coaches.

Rhys has been a very able deputy with an in-depth technical knowledge of the game as an ex pro player. He has is extremely knowledgeable and has brought experience and expertise to the role and thrived in the Bargoed environment in developing his coaching craft. 

Bargoed RFC wish Mike and Rhys success on their coaching journey and thank them for being part of the Bargoed RFC family. There is no doubt that they’ll be moving up the coaching ladder and operating at a high level of the game in the near future, with the skills and abilities they have. Thanks from all at Bargoed RFC.
