Bargoed Briefs

Bargoed RFC

It was another good weekend for Bargoed with all three senior teams winning.

The 1st XV were victorious at home against Narberth. The Warriors also tasted victory at home against Cardiff Met and the Youth also won away from home, against Abercwmboi.

The 1st XV hosted  Narberth in what was an entertaining game. Bargoed managed to get the win 19-0
with tries from Keegan Bale and Louis Tovey in the first half, for the hosts to lead 14-0 at the break, with Josh Prosser adding the extras from the boot.

The only score in the second half was a try for hard working second row James Locke.

The Coaching Staff will be pleased with the work rate and effort with a great defensive set in the second half but will want to see improvements in attack with more accuracy needed, with a couple of opportunities not taken.

The Warriors had another good win this time against Cardiff Met in a tough encounter with a 19-12 victory.

There was a try for Leon James and the rest of the points came from the boot of Charlie Williams, who impressed once again alongside a great team effort. Ben Jones Man of the Match

This victory sees the Warriors sitting in second place in Division 6 East Central.

The Youth won 12-7 with tries from Brandon McCarthy and Ben Palmer with Brayden George converting one.

Captain Cody Rees was forward of the match in a bruising encounter and there was also a great performance from Max Hill at scrum half who was awarded back of the match.

This week the 1st XV are on the road and playing away at Cardiff Met in the National Community Premiership Cup.

The Warriors have a local derby against Penallta in Division 6 East Central away and will be looking to build on their positive start.

The Youth entertain Risca in a Dragons League game.
