here were home games for the Youth and 1st XV with the Warriors having a bye week.
1st XV Match Report
Bargoed faced the challenge of Llangennech at Bargoed Park in a WRU Community Premiership game, with both sides looking to get off the mark after defeats in week one.
It was the visitors who had the better start taking the lead with a converted try with 20 minutes gone after a period of pressure.
Bargoed were struggling to gain any territorial advantage making a number of handling errors and some poor discipline.
Bargoed looked like they would open their account with a clever kick from Josh Prosser giving Jordan Howells the opportunity to score but he was hauled down and Wil Gregory was bundled into touch in the goal line.
The Bulls were on top now squeezing the visitors at scrum time and after a patient build up Logan Yendle scored in the corner and Prosser converted to make it all square.
Bargoed’s attack was now far more cohesive, with increased tempo and this enabled them to stretch the visitors. Joe Scrivens kicked ahead and Logan Yendle worked hard to outpace the defence and slide in to score his second try. Prosser converted and Bargoed lead 14-7 at the break.
Bargoed applied pressure on the visitors early in the second half and used their set piece to good effect which saw Llangennech given a yellow card.
Bargoed kept the pressure on and Captain Josh Prosser scored in the corner and converted it to lead 21-7.
Bargoed were now dominating territory and possession and the pressure continued to build from a good set piece and it was Matthew Flanagan who sniped over for a bonus point try after sixty minutes, with Prosser again converting.
Llangennech responded well though and continued to attack with ball in hand. They were rewarded with a try after a clean break and scored from close range with ten minutes left to play, closing the gap to 28-12.
The game was nearing the end when good work by front rowers Joey Hall and Keegan Bale enabled Bargoed to get on the front foot and a clever kick pass from Matthew Lewis saw his centre partner Jordan Howells score in the corner.
The final whistle went with Bargoed victorious 33-12 against a well organised and combative Llangennech side.
