Bargoed Briefs 23 Sep 2025

Both the 1st XV and the Youth played Beddau at the weekend.

1st XV Match Report

Bargoed visited a team on the rise on Saturday with Beddau having been promoted to the WRU Community Premiership this season. The Green and Golds had made an excellent start to the season with two wins from two games.

Bargoed were once again slow to get out of the blocks, as in previous games and it was the hosts that struck first.

Beddau got a converted try after a period of pressure, and poor defence from the Bulls enabled Beddau to cross.

Bargoed slowly started to get back in the game with territory and possession but a series of errors prevented them from scoring.

Bargoed started the second half with an early opportunity squandered with a forward pass.

The hosts responded immediately and a misread in defence again cost Bargoed, with the hosts making a clean break and scoring their third try which was converted to make it 21-0 with 50 minutes on the clock.

There was a recurring theme for Bargoed with good work being undone by a lack of accuracy.

Bargoed lost a scrum against the head, giving the ball up once again and a kick and chase saw Beddau score in the corner to lead 26-0 with 55 minutes gone.

Bargoed made a number of changes that seemed to make a difference in the loose. However again they failed to capitalise on good approach work. Bargoed did create opportunities but never converted this into points.

The set piece was increasingly under significant pressure from a fired up home side and there was no way back for Bargoed.

The home side deservedly took the points, and the players and coaches now have two weeks to prepare and bounce back.
